100 Fascinating Londoners, Edited by Michael Baker and Hilary Bates Neary, Published by Lorimer Books.

Available at  Wendel Holmes and Museum London.

The Celebrate 150 initiative was a project endorsed by London City Council to implement a year long series of events highlighting the City of London’s past, present and future. The success of this initiative was illustrated through increased community engagement, partnership and pride for London.

Events, publications and exhibits dedicated to London’s past, allowed us to remember and reflect on our own unique identity as the geographic, economic and cultural centre of the region.  Events that reflected our present diverse populations and interests demonstrated that there are a wide variety of activities for us to choose from to enrich our connections with our neighbours and local businesses.  Those opinion articles, conferences, and reports where we examined London’s future have enabled a large cross-section of London’s community from all sectors to talk about why London is great, and how we can all work together to make the next 150 years even better.  Celebrate 150 has delivered a lasting legacy for future citizens of London.

Existing organizations were able to build new partnerships, new sponsors and new programs have led organizations broaden their sustainability plans and strengthen community partnerships.
